Introduction

Bryce Canyon National Park is characterised by its deep amphitheatres filled with spiralling red-rock formations known as hoodoos. Located at high altitude of around 2,000m and with an 18-mile scenic road running along its Paunsaugunt Plateau rim, Bryce's highlights include such intriguing names as Sunrise Point, Thor's Hammer, Navajo Loop, the Bryce Amphitheater, Natural Bridge and Agua Canyon. Inside the canyon, a maze of pillars and channels are best appreciated on foot as hiking trails plunge more than 1,000ft from the rim to its valley floor.
