The Wexas Travel Foundation is a registered charity and a non-profit division of Wexas designed to raise money for deserving charities. It was launched in 2007.
We are all becoming increasingly conscious of our environmental and social responsibilities. As a travel company we strongly believe in using our position to support organisations at the forefront of social and environmental change.
Australian bushfires
The bushfires that took hold in Australia took a devastating toll, not only on the lives and homes of local people but also the country’s wildlife. Indeed, it is estimated that over 1 billion animals lost their lives – a truly shocking statistic. With this in mind, and given Wexas’s long-standing love of the land down under, the Wexas Travel Foundation decided to raise funds for WIRES – the Australian Wildlife Rescue Organisation, based in New South Wales.
How do we raise money?
Donations from Wexas clients
A £4 donation is automatically added to each travel booking made through Wexas. This is entirely voluntary and clients are free to opt out of the donation by advising their specialist at the time of booking.
Fundraising by Wexas staff
The staff at Wexas organise regular fundraising initiatives. These have included raffles, charity collections, selling homemade cakes and curries and physical challenges. Past events have ranged from cross-UK cycle rides to the now famous Wexas office curry day.
Company donations
Wexas covers all administration costs, ensuring that all donations go towards helping those that need it. The company also offered financial support to staff fundraising activities, covering the cost of fuel and transport on the Three Peaks Challenge, the South West Coast Path and the C2C cycle expeditions.
