Day 1
Depart the UK

Start your holiday in style as you enjoy included airport lounge access before your overnight flight to Johannesburg.

Day 2
Pretoria

Arrive in Johannesburg, where you'll be met by a Regent representative. A tour of Pretoria is included from the airport, including visits to Voortrekker Monument, Paul Kruger House, Nelson Mandela Statue & Union buildings. Brunch is included at a local restaurant, until it’s time to transfer you to your hotel for your overnight stay at the Sheraton Hotel in Pretoria. The rest of the day is at leisure.

Day 3
Pretoria and Rovos Rail

After breakfast, board Rovos Rail at its private station and settle in to your wood-panelled suite as you begin your journey to Cape Town through the grasslands of the Highveld and Great Karoo. Throughout your journey, you’ll have plenty of chances to relax in these spaces, surrounded by plush furnishings and classic décor as the African countryside passes you by. Race past spectacular mountain ranges and scenic vineyards before tucking into a gourmet lunch followed by afternoon tea and then a sumptuous multi-course dinner, complemented by a selection of fine South African wines. Finish the evening in the stylish lounge and be transported to a bygone era as you mingle with other guests before returning to your cabin.

Day 4
Kimberley and Rovos Rail

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast as you watch the scenery from your window before stopping at Kimberley, known for its diamond-mining past. Head out on a guided tour of the Diamond Mine Museum and the Big Hole – a giant pit that claims to be the largest hole excavated by hand. After soaking up Kimberley's unique Victorian heritage and glittering gemstone history, you'll return to the train for afternoon tea as you glide past flocks of flamingos basking in the sun. Tonight, enjoy another delicious dinner in the opulent restaurant car before retiring to your cabin once more.

Day 5
Rovos Rail

After breakfast in the dining car, relax as the train travels through the Karoo, a vast semi-desert region that was once an enormous inland sea. Then, after lunch on board, you'll step off the train to visit the historic, preserved village of Matjiesfontein with its fascinating museum and white-washed Victorian-era houses. End the day back on board, first enjoying tea in the lounge as you race through tunnels up to 13.5 kilometres long, then with a final celebratory dinner as you edge ever closer to the coast and iconic sights of Cape Town.

Cape Town

On arrival in Cape Town you'll enjoy a half-day tour of the city before transferring to the Cape Grace hotel for an overnight stay. Situated on a private quay between the bustling V&A Waterfront and the tranquil yacht marina, it's the perfect base from which to enjoy Cape Town's many attractions. Indeed, the city has plenty to offer, from pearl-white beaches washed by the Indian and Atlantic Oceans to the colourful, old-style fishing boats of Kalk Bay and Greenmarket Square's famous flea market. The evening is free for you to make your own arrangements for dinner at one of the many excellent restaurants in the city.

Walvis Bay

Unspoiled Walvis Bay, a natural lagoon and the only deep-sea harbour on the Namibian coast, offers something for everyone, with spectacular bird-watching being a keynote, as thousands of migrating species make their way here annually to join the local flamingos and pelicans. “Dune 7,” at the outskirts of town, towers over the scenic bay, and offers excellent photo ops. The city is also a good starting point for a number of exciting day trips into the timeless beauty of the desert region, including off-road explorations, or fly-over dolphin and whale sighting.

Port Elizabeth

Located at the endpoint of South Africa’s picturesque Garden Route, Port Elizabeth is nicknamed “The Friendly City.” While regarded as one of the country’s most important seaports, Port Elizabeth is also considered the water sports capital of South Africa. Visitors enjoy the area’s beaches, scuba diving, game fishing, surfing and whale watching.

Durban

A bustling, subtropical city and Africa’s busiest port, Vasco da Gama is said to have sighted Durban Bay on Christmas Day, 1497, naming the land Natal as a mark of respect for the Nativity. The name Durban was acquired in 1843 when Port Natal was renamed for Sir Benjamin D'Urban. Today , Durban delights the traveler with its colorful mosaic of ethnic neighborhoods and memorable excursions to game reserves and the traditional lifestyle of the Zulu people. Explore Old Market Square, the Golden Mile beachfront and the scented Botanic Gardens and Gray Street Mosque, the largest in the southern hemisphere.

Maputo

Discover the relaxed charm of Maputo with its wide, European style boulevards, lush with jacaranda, bougainvillea and other tropical foliage, where old colonial palaces are mixed in with modern high-rise buildings. Visit The Cathedral built in 1944 in the shape of a cross, then the lively Mercado Central. Enjoy a snack of freshly roasted cashews and a cold bottled drink. Stop by the National Museum of Art then stroll along the Avenida Julius Nyerere, browsing the boutiques, vendors, and restaurants. Look for African waxprint and woven fabrics, beautiful wooden boxes and picture frames. Seek out the surreal Pancho Guedes buildings, reminiscent of Gaudi. Visit the Praça de Trabalhadores designed by Gustave Eiffel in the late 19th century. Sip coffee in one of the many outdoor cafés as you watch the world go by in this vibrant seaside capital.

Richards Bay

Richards Bay is one of South Africa’s largest harbours, and is the tourist’s gateway to Zululand, once the mightiest of the sub-Saharan African Kingdoms. Richards Bay began its life as a makeshift harbor, set up by Sir Fredererick Richards, after whom it is named, during the Anglo-Boer War of 1880-81. Richards Bay has some of the most spectacular wetland scenery and pristine beaches on the north coast of KwaZulu Natal. here you have options to explore the land of King Shaka, or embark on an unforgettable safari to Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Game Reserve.
