Set sail from Southampton as you journey around Britain's northern coast towards the historic city of Glasgow, enjoying an indulgent and luxurious experience aboard the newly-built EXPLORA I. On this in-depth journey you’ll hunt for the Loch Ness monster near Inverness, walk the beautiful beaches on the Isle of Lewis and dine on the finest Scottish seafood in Oban, all whilst sampling Scotch whiskeys along the way. Day 1
Arrive Southampton

Today you’ll make your way to Southampton's port where you’ll board the luxurious and newly-built EXPLORA I, home for the next nine nights. On board you’ll find your elegantly appointed ocean-front suites and private terraces – an idyllic place to relax and unwind between ports. Take the chance to explore the ship in more detail, or head to one of the nine dining venues for dinner, where you can dine on included Asian fusion, steakhouse prime cuts and regional specialties focused on health and wellbeing.

Day 2
Day at sea

With a focus on health, wellbeing and finding a connection with the ocean, a day at sea is an opportune time to relax and unwind, afterall you're on holiday. Head to the ship's indoor and outdoor spa where a whole host of holistic and natural treatments await. Whether you book a specialised treatment or relax in the warm pools, you’ll have no problem finding your inner zen. As the sun sets over the coast, head to one of the open-air lounge bars to grab a cocktail and a fine scotch whiskey, setting the stage for the Scottish adventures ahead.

Days 3-4
Historic Edinburgh

Enjoy breakfast and a morning at Leisure as the ship makes its way to Edinburgh, where you’ll have over 30 hours to explore the city in great detail. Whether this is your first visit or are returning to find something new, this world-class city will always offer a surprise or two. Head up above the city to Arthur's Seat for panoramic views, before making your way down to explore the famed Royal Mile and a closer inspection of the iconic Edinburgh Castle.

While in town you’ll have ample time to visit the galleries, boutique shops and museums found along the city's old streets. And, as evening sets in, you’ll be able to enjoy the nightlife full of live entertainment and trendy bars. If you happen to visit during the August months, you’ll also have the chance to witness the impressive Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, a renowned showcase of Scottish culture and a highlight of any visit.

Day 5
Newcastle & Northumbria's coast

After breakfast, head into Newcastle where you'll find a lively city that continues to reinvent itself decade after decade. Although the city is renowned for its entertaining nightlife, today will be focused on exploring the historic side of the city, abundant in Roman and medieval heritage. Or, head further afield to Hadrian’s wall and the well-preserved Alnwick Castle in Northumbria or the famed Shambles and quaint tea houses in York’s city centre – both superb options.

Day 6
Inverness & Loch Ness folklore

Making your way north you’ll arrive in Inverness, where adventure and local folklore awaits. Perhaps the most iconic stop along the way, the nearby Loch Ness is steeped in mystery and the chance to spot the Loch Ness monster should not be missed. Whether you’re after a loch monster, a ride on a famous steam train, a round of championship golf or want a dram or two of the Glenmorangie malt whiskey, Inverness and the surrounding area has a lot to offer.

Day 7
Isle of Lewis & beautiful beaches

This morning enjoy breakfast from your suite as you gaze out over the beautiful Outer Hebrides, and one of Britain's best kept secrets. Spot seals, whales, long-haired cattle and breathtaking beaches as you spend the day exploring the Isle of Lewis and its Gaelic heritage. Take time to visit Lews Castle and Calanais prehistoric standing stones before grabbing a local peat-smoked dish of super fresh scallops, a local favourite.

Day 8
Oban & Scotland's seafood capital

Today you’ll arrive into the beautiful horseshoe bay of Oban, which was originally built around the former distillery which bore the same name. Now, the small resort town claims the title as the seafood capital of Scotland and remains the best stop on the itinerary to dine on ultra-fresh mussels, langoustines, oysters and prawns. The waters around Oban are abundant in marine life and heading out on a sea safari remains a popular day trip to book. Make sure to grab some local chocolate from the quaint shops in town before heading back aboard.

Day 9
Liverpool and rock history

Famous for the Beatles and rock tunes, Liverpool is a lively city with fantastic museums, a thriving art scene, and great multi-ethnic restaurants. Today, you’ll explore the city at your own pace or if you choose, you can remain on board and visit the ship’s Holistic and Wellness centre for that long overdue treatment, or you may wish to lounge by the indoor pool that features a retractable roof, so you can enjoy the water regardless of the weather.

Enjoy a final breakfast on board before you'll head ashore to the Scottish city of Glasgow. This historic city has a lot on offer, and our experts can help you choose a luxurious city centre hotel should extra time be needed to explore the city in more detail.
