Introduction
Kununurra means ‘big water’ in the local Aboriginal language and the town is the gateway to some of Western Australia’s best natural attractions. From here visit the Purnululu National Park and Bungle Bungle Range.
Water sports lovers will enjoy Lake Kununnura, the Ord River and Lake Argyle – which is so vast it’s considered an inland sea. The area’s wetlands are crammed with amazing birdlife, massive fish and saltwater crocs and are best explored by cruise ship or canoe.
At 191 metres above the surrounding plain, Kelly’s Knob Lookout affords panoramic views over the area and is perfect for watching the sunset, while the spectacular Black Rock Falls is the best place for a cool swim.
