Introduction
The Montverde cloud forest is one of the most eerie and moving habitats on earth. We recommend you visit early, when the clouds still cling to the forest canopy to get a real sense of the beauty of this changeable environment.
An elevated walkway allows you to stroll through the forest canopy where you can catch a glimpse of the toucans and other birds that call this section of rainforest home. You might even catch a glimpse of the endangered green quetzal, now found only in Montverde National Park.
For adrenaline junkies, systems of zip wires zigzag throughout the park offering high-octane tours of the forest heights. However, it's on a more sedate twilight walk of the forest floor that you stand the best chance of seeing the area's larger mammals, including ocelots and jaguars.
