Introduction
Canyon Negro National Park lies just south of Costa Rica's border with Nicaragua; this isolated northern location means that accessing the park is best achieved by boat from Los Chiles. The park's out-of-the way location offers the perfect opportunity for a leisurely cruise up the Rio Frio.
This area is an ornithological paradise and the canopy reverberates with the calls of different bird species. The waters and forests here are also rich in wildlife and the park is considered an excellent fishing ground as well as being the perfect place to see tapirs, otters, spider monkeys and caiman.
