Castries, St Lucia
You’ll be welcomed by the green peaks of St Lucia’s volcanic plugs as you arrive into port this morning. The famous Pitons give the island its form, and coupled with the turquoise waters surrounding them, you’ll find a colourful feast for the eyes. If you can drag yourself away from the island's gorgeous beaches, you’ll find a jungle of cascading waterfalls. The island’s wildlife is never far away; spot flashes of red as parrots zip between palm trees, as dolphins splash in the sparkling blue sea. The Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Castries looks humble from outside, but inside, discover bright frescoes and rows of flickering candles. Immerse yourself in Caribbean culture at the vibrant Castries Market, breathing in fragrant spices as you try your hand at the age-old ritual of bartering.

St George’s, Grenada
As the world’s second-largest exporter of nutmeg, Grenada's nickname – the Isle of Spice – is well deserved. Beyond its plantations, though, you'll discover jungles, white-sand beaches, and turquoise seas. Waterfalls crash in the rainforest, and banana and cocoa groves spread across the island. Take a refreshing dip in the cooling pools of Bamboo Waterfall or venture to Grand Etang to spot mona monkeys and discover a caldera lake. In St George’s itself, the waterfront is a picture of floral buildings and Georgian architecture. Visit the spice market to find the freshest ingredients, including heaps of nutmeg, vanilla pods, cinnamon, and cocoa beans.
If you’re looking to unwind with some seaside luxury, visit Grand Anse Beach or secret stretches hidden in the palms. Grab an iced cocktail for a taste of the locally distilled spiced rum punch.

Philipsburg, St Maarten
St Maarten is partitioned into French and Dutch sides and thus has a dual personality. It’s a place with sensational views and fantastic opportunities for scuba divers. Arrive on the south of the island at the Dutch side’s capital, Philipsburg – the perfect place for waterfront strolls, duty-free bargains, and time to drink in the dazzling view. Sprawl out beside the shallow waters, watching as the occasional jet ski goes by. The island’s seafood offerings are a delight, from lobster to red snapper and even conch cocktails. The island’s favourite tipple, guavaberry rum, is also not to be missed. For more adventure, hike stunning green peaks or spot jets up-close at Maho Beach, where the runway of Princess Juliana International Airport comes perilously close to the sands.

St Thomas, US Virgin Islands
As you arrive in St Thomas, you’ll be greeted by views of steep hills surrounding a pretty harbour. The island’s capital, Charlotte Amalie, tumbles down to the waterfront, a charming maze of colourful lanes home to a mix of restaurants and shops. For more photo-worthy views, take the Skyride to Paradise Point, or visit Drake’s Seat, said to be Sir Francis Drake’s lookout for approaching enemy ships.
Catch a Caribbean sunset at Magens Bay, or cruise in a catamaran to discover the coastline, or discover hidden coves and caves along the island’s perimeter. There's also the chance to land on the shores of tiny neighbouring islands where you'll enjoy first-class scuba diving or snorkelling, or kayak over millpond-flat lagoon waters before relaxing on powder-soft beaches strewn with pretty pink shells.

Bassaterre, Saint Kitts & Nevis
St Kitts, with its volcanic slopes and clear Caribbean waters, is a place for ‘limin,’ the local word for relaxing. Discover swarming reefs, hidden beaches, and shallow seas perfect for a tranquil dip. St Kitts has no shortage of natural beauty. Relax on blissful beaches or explore sprawling rainforests. Offshore, dive in crystalline waters with turtles and uncover shipwrecks now teeming with marine life.
In Bassaterre itself, spot the Berkeley Memorial Clock and Independence Square with its colourful, bubbling fountain or take a rumbling ride on the scenic sugar train, navigating curving bends in carriages that once transported crops of sugar cane to the city. Far below the city on the waves is Brimstone Hill Fortress, a World Heritage Site dating to 1690.

St John’s, Antigua & Barbuda
Antigua is a land of natural beauty, gorged with sunshine and white-sand beaches. Historic forts, bedazzling coastline, and dense rainforest combine to create the ultimate Caribbean destination. The beaches are vibrant and plentiful, with a different option for every day of the year. Experience their beauty on horseback, loll in a catamaran offshore, or simply lie back in the soft sand. Beach shacks serve everything from fresh seafood to spicy goat meat curries.
In St John’s, pink and blue Georgian buildings abound. Lively markets offer an authentic look at Antiguan life, and museums celebrate revered cricketers and the island’s independence. Built in 1725, UNESCO World Heritage Nelson’s Dockyard was led by Admiral Horatio Nelson. Today, it’s a fascinating time-warp offering hikes to viewpoints of inlets, cliffs, and hills.

9
Roseau, Dominica
Roseau’s beaches are alive with fizzing bubbles from the geothermal activity below. This is a snorkeller's or diver’s dream, a place to swim amongst vibrant marine life, technicolour corals, and volcanoes hidden beneath the waves. Relax on volcanic sands or explore the jungled mountains. The second-largest hot spring in the world, Boiling Lake, is in the steamy Morne Trois Pitons National Park. Rest up in a mineral-rich hot pool or with a rum punch or two.
Nestled on the west coast, Roseau is surrounded by banana plantations and cocoa fields, a town where a strong colonial imprint mingles with local flare. In Old Market Square, find locals trading massive vegetables, bright fruits, and handmade jewellery. A former British fort offers panoramic views from the top.

10
Bequia, St Vincent & The Grenadines
Tiny Bequia provides an authentic Caribbean experience, with virgin beaches, rustic rum shacks, and scenic bays. Often-deserted gold-sand beaches and hillside sweeps of almond trees create a rustic, unassuming feel that's different from some Bequia's flashier neighbours. The natural harbour plays host to day-tripping yachts. The tiny capital, Port Elizabeth, includes a bustling fruit and vegetable market, turtle sanctuary, and stalls selling hand-crafted model ships.
The entire island is only seven miles long, but taking advantage of the slow pace is part of the charm. Revel in simply sitting, reading, or swimming at Princess Margaret Beach. As evening sets in, join the locals for a barbecue or indulge in rum-heavy cocktails at beachside bars.

Kralendijk, Bonaire
Bonaire’s capital city is home to only 3,000. The main drag turns into Kaya Grandi in the town centre. Here, you’ll find most of the island’s major stores, boutiques, and restaurants. Across Kaya Grandi is Kaya L.D. Gerharts, with several small supermarkets, snack shops, and some of the best restaurants. A narrow waterfront avenue leads straight to the north and south piers, and Harbourside Mall in the town centre features chic boutiques. Along this route, you’ll also find the cannons of Fort Oranje.
From December through April, cruise ships only dock here once or twice a week. The ochre-and-white structure that looks like a Greek temple is actually the produce market, where one can find Venezuelan produce fresh off the boat.

13
Willemstad, Curaçao
Willemstad is famous for its colourful city centre. Indeed, its European-style, pastel-hued buildings are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. From watchful Rif Fort, walk to the Queen Emma Bridge, known as the Swinging Old Lady, for views of Willemstad’s Punda waterfront. Visit boats selling fruits and vegetables in the floating market, and discover the Mikve Israel-Emanuel Synagogue, the oldest in the Americas. There's also the chance to explore the historic liqueur distillery or visit Queen Wilhelmina Park, where ‘DUSHI’ is spelled out in a standing sign; this is the island’s way of describing the little things that make life worth living. You might also spend time relaxing on the beach, with sandy curves, turquoise waters and an abundance of marine life, from colourful fish to turtles.
