Within easy reach of the magnificent Nitmiluk (Katherine) Gorge, Cicada Lodge offers an original, indigenous experience and the perfect base from which to explore one of the Northern Territory's most beautiful regions.
Location
Cicada Lodge is located within the Nitmiluk National Park just over 30km from Katherine and is the perfect place from which to visit the region's 13 dramatic gorges. Nitmiluk's traditional landowners, the Jawoyn, and their dreamtime stories will bring this ancient land to life while Cicada's modern design sits serenely amid the magnificent landscape. Flights between Darwin and Katherine are available and transfers from Katherine can be arranged on request. The drive from Darwin takes around 3 hours.
Accommodation
There are just 18 rooms at Cicada Lodge, each offering full length louvre doors opening onto a private balcony, local indigenous art works, complimentary WiFi, air conditioning, fridge & a mini bar. You’ll enjoy wonderful views across the distinctive sandstone country above the gorge accompanied by the sounds of the Australian bush.
Dining
The focus here is native Australian and you’ll have opportunity to taste some local ingredients as well. The dishes combine traditional elements and flavours with the finest produce. Of particular note is the Chef's Menu, which allows guests to sample and experience different dishes unique to the region. Breakfast is included along with sundowners and canapés on the sundeck each evening. There's also a licensed bar on site.
