Come daytime, head outside to explore the myriad delights, discovering the 90 acres of untouched landscape with walks through mangrove forests spotting endless bird species, howler monkeys, iguanas and anteaters, or head on boat trips which offer chances to spot crocodile. The surrounding four beaches are fantastic for surfing, spotting sea turtles hatching or simply relaxing, and there's also guided nature walks through dry tropical forest, paddling down rivers snaking through the old-growth woods, ziplining through treetop canopies and sunset horse riding on offer. For something more serene, the luxury spa offers excellent treatments in the midst of nature as well as yoga classes.

After a day of activities, there’s endless options to satiate, from bocas (snacks) to freshly-caught seafood. Relax in the open air Gecko Lounge; a perfect place for a sunset cocktail, before sampling the delights of the sprawling, wooden-beamed Chirriboca restaurant – the fresh tuna is particularly excellent.
