Narrows Escape Rainforest Retreat

Location

A two hour, scenic drive from Brisbane, Narrows Escape is huddled among the treetops that carpet the Blackall mountain range in the Sunshine Coast hinterlands.

The closest town, Montville, acts as something of an artistic sanctuary with various galleries and resident artists and feels like an extension of the retreat’s eco-friendly feel. A half-hour drive will get you to the coast and its pristine beaches and surf.

Accommodation

Six luxury pavilions aimed at couples are carefully spaced apart from one another so as to preserve the location’s intimacy. Each is freestanding and features a double whirlpool spa bath, log fire and designer furnishings.

Other comforts include complimentary high speed WiFi, Nespresso coffee machines and a barbecue. With oversized windows, skylights and large verandahs complete with hammocks, the architecture gets you as close to the rainforest as possible.

Dining

Guests are greeted with a breakfast hamper on arrival and open their doors each morning to fresh, warm croissants. For a stay of two or more days a welcome platter is placed in your fridge and, if you want to stay in, BBQ packs or home cooked meals can be delivered to your door. A fully equipped kitchen—with dishwasher—means you can take full advantage of nearby farmers’ markets.

For dining out, head into Montville, a five mile drive away, where you can indulge in wines from local vineyards and a selection of fine dining restaurants. A particular favourite is Gypsy’s Table, which serves fantastic curries in a relaxed atmosphere.

Facilities

Narrows Escapes aims to provide everything its guests need within their pavilion and its seven acres of rainforest real estate. Relax in the hammock on your veranda, take a dip in your private salt-water rock pool or simply make use of the laundry service.

As you’d expect, there’s a myriad of excellent rainforest walks that depart from Narrows to explore Baroon Lake, any of the local waterfalls and the nearby nature reserves.
