Location

The Whitsunday collection of 74 islands enjoys an enviable location on the eastern edge of the World Heritage-listed Great Barrier Reef. A lesson in quiet seclusion, it will come as a surprise that Hamilton Island, accessible by plane, helicopter or boat, is just 16km from the Queensland coast. Upon arrival, the island’s golden beaches, hidden inlets and tropical bush land can be explored in your complimentary electric golf buggy.

Accommodation

With over two thirds of the island a protected national park, accommodation is carefully spaced and offers excellent views in all directions. To complement the native eucalypts each pavilion is handcrafted from a combination of imported and local timber and stone.

Southwest-facing Leeward Pavilions look over the full expanse of the Coral Sea, while north facing Windward Pavilions present views across the waters to the Whitsunday Islands. The latter also feature an infinity edge plunge pool and separate living area while the former has its lounge adjoined. Both come with a spacious private deck to make the most of their idyllic setting. Look to the exclusive Beach House for a fully-featured getaway complete with a private pool and a more secluded location.

Dining

Executive Chef, Mark Jensen, has created exciting menus that use local ingredients where possible to craft dishes that are light, fresh and healthy. The Long Pavilion offers excellent breakfast and lunches while in the evening multi-course degustation menus are served in the delightful waterfront Pebble Beach Restaurant.  Think dishes such as sashimi grade fresh Australian fish, local shellfish and wagyu beef expertly matched with world-class wines. Alternatively, dine in your own pavilion and enjoy the stunning sunset from your secluded private deck.

Facilities

To make the most out of your stay, be sure to enjoy one of the many treatments on offer at the resort’s spa. There are also two swimming pools, group yoga sessions, a fully equipped gym and a library meaning your stay will be as relaxing as possible. For access to the reef, qualia’s concierge team can organise private charter cruises or seaplane flights to spend the day snorkelling over coral gardens and diving with tropical marine life. Or, just stay on terra firma and make the most of the island’s irresistible beachfront pool.
