Location
This luxury offering is set on a peninsula just outside the town of Rotorua, with easy access to its stunning geothermal features. Originally built in 1980 as a luxury fishing retreat, Solitaire Lodge enjoys commanding views over beautiful Lake Tarawera and offers guests a stylish and relaxing base from which to explore. There's everything from Maori performances to geysers that erupt up to 30 metres in height.
Accommodation
The lodge's suites are as spectacular as the lake views with private balconies and window walls making the very best of the surrounding landscape. You'll be pampered by in-room massages, a luxury en suite and a kingsize bed complete with down duvet and pillows while complimentary wireless internet and flat screen television add some tech. There are also three signature suites for guests looking for something extra special.
Dining
Using the very best locally sourced ingredients, including herbs from the lodge's own garden, the dining at Solitaire is an unforgettable experience. The five-course evening menu of contemporary New Zealand cuisine is preceded with canapés and drinks including a showcase of the best regional wines. Breakfast and lunch are just as enticing and are included in the lodge's full-board tariff.
Facilities
As well as a menu of relaxing in-room spa treatments, guests will also discover hot water pools nearby as well as geysers, mud pools and a natural thermal spring surrounded by the breathtaking Rotorua landscape. Guests also have access to motorised dinghies and kayaks – ideal for exploring the lake – as well as a private pebble beach, which is perfect for a late afternoon swim. There's also a herb garden, a jetty for trout fishing and a number of exciting experiences to help make the most of the local area.
