About

History & culture | Ocean cruise
Some itineraries require a small ship. The MS Caledonian Sky, carrying only 100 passengers, is small enough to dock in central Venice and to transit the famous Corinth Canal, accessing some of the Adriatic’s hardest-to-reach places. This itinerary operates from Venice to Athens (or reverse), giving you the chance to extend your trip before or after your all-inclusive cruise. Discover the natural beauty of Croatia on an Insider Experience in Krka National Park before exploring other incredible destinations such as Korčula and Dubrovnik. Stop in Kotor, visit Italy’s Puglia region in Otranto with the option to visit Lecce, and then make your way to Greece. Discover ancient Delphi before heading toward Athens. This cruise is great value, with meals, selected drinks, and excursions included. The Insider Experience in Krka National Park is an incredible added value and a chance to discover a hidden gem.

Sibenik & Krka National Park, Croatia
Your ship docks in the town of Sibenik today, where you’ll disembark for your very first Insider Experience.
Head to stunning Krka National Park, a land chock-full of dramatic waterfalls. You’re sure to spot the most famous of these, Skradinski Buk, a large natural pool with towering waterfalls at one end and numerous cascades at the other. Walk along wooden jetties and bridges, admiring the falls and the area’s unique flora and fauna. This is natural splendour at its best. Back on your ship this evening, join your fellow travellers for a welcome gala dinner.

Korčula & Mljet
The morning brings you to Korčula, the birthplace of Marco Polo. Explore Korčula at your leisure or to join an optional walking tour.
Korčula is one of the Adriatic’s largest islands at nearly 47 kilometres long. You’ll find a number of vineyards, olive groves, and small villages. When the island was first settled by the Greek, they called it ‘Korkyra Melaina’ (Black Corfu) because of its dense pine forests. Some of the main points of interest here are the 15th-century Gothic Renaissance St Mark’s Cathedral, the city’s towers and remaining city walls, and the Icon Museum, just to name a few. Later, you’ll set sail for Mljet.

Dubrovnik
Spend the morning on an informative guided tour of Dubrovnik to learn about its impressive city walls.
The afternoon is yours to explore at your own pace. Perhaps you wish to find a beach and enjoy the sunshine, walk the city to spot filming locations for the hit series Game of Thrones, or simply head to a café for a coffee and people-watching. Dubrovnik has several interesting museums, including the Maritime Museum, the Red History Museum, and the Cultural History Museum, which is housed in the Rector’s Palace.
Your ship will remain docked until the late evening, so this is a great opportunity to disembark and savour the local flavours at a Dubrovnik restaurant. Dinner will also be served onboard.

Kotor, Montenegro
Spend part of the day cruising the stunning fjord of Kotor Bay into Montenegro. When the ship docks in Kotor, you can choose to explore on your own or join an optional walking tour of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Old Town. If you’re feeling particularly energetic, we recommend climbing the 1,350 steps to the top of Kotor’s fortifications. For impressive scenery without the need for the climb, perhaps you’d prefer to take a boat tour of the bay or hop on the Kotor-Lovćen Cable Car.

Itea, Delphi, & the Corinth Canal, Greece
On your last full day, arrive in the Greek port of Itea to head off on an excursion to the sacred site of Delphi. In the times of Ancient Greece, Delphi was considered the centre of the world. Here, you can explore the Sanctuary of Apollo and the partially reconstructed Treasury of the Athenians. You will also get the opportunity to visit the museum here, which houses one of the world’s greatest collections of archaeological artefacts.
Later, your ship will make its way through the famously tight Corinth Canal, which is only 21.3 metres wide, as you join your fellow travellers for a Captain’s farewell dinner.
