Introduction
Once a base for pirate vessels waiting to pounce on Spanish treasure ships, Cabo san Lucas is now a favourite for expert divers, with beautiful beaches, dynamic nightlife and plenty of luxury hotels.
The Marina welcomes small sailboats and private yachts, while gentle waves lap the shore at the beaches of Hacienda and Medano. The underwater sand-falls at Playa del Amor are a popular attraction, as are the gray whales that fill Magdalena Bay during winter.
‘El Arco' is a monumental natural arch rock formation at the point where the waters of the Pacific Ocean and Sea of Cortez meet and become a symbol of the region. Its highest point is called ‘El Vigia' (the lookout) because of the beautiful, panoramic views that can be enjoyed from the summit.
At the point where desert meets sea known as ‘Finisterra' (land's end) a colony of sea lions frolic among the hauntingly beautiful landscape.
