Location
On the banks of the Zambezi River, under a grove of Mahogany trees, Chiawa Camp holds prime position in the heart of Zambia’s Lower Zambezi National Park. Following a flight of about 35 minutes from Lusaka to Royal airstrip, the transfer is roughly 20 minutes by car, following a further 20 minutes by boat.
Accommodation
Guests at Chiawa Camp will enjoy spacious tented accommodation that oozes classic safari chic, with draped mosquito nets, claw-footed baths and private decks with views of the river. Safari tent IX is the best, with a stunning split-level veranda and a secluded outdoor bathroom.
Dining
Renowned for its excellent cuisine, often described as an African and European fusion, Chiawa Camp prides itself upon imaginative chefs creating sumptuous meals using the freshest ingredients. Depending on the time of year and the day’s activities, breakfasts, brunches and lunches are served plated or as a hot & cold buffet – usually al fresco – although sometimes in the bush and even on a boat in the middle of the Zambezi! Dinners are usually served under the stars or by the camp, in multiple courses.
Facilities
Facilities at the camp include a small shaded plunge pool and shop, stocked with good-quality curios. Activities at the camp include game viewing, walking safaris, birding, canoeing and boat trips.
