Location
The Fateh Prakash Palace was constructed during the reign of Maharana Fateh Singh, between 1884 and 1930, exclusively for royal functions. It has been meticulously preserved, and is now a beautiful hotel in the centre of Udaipur. With history-soaked interiors, decorated with miniature paintings, portraits, royal artefacts, and the armoury of the Mewar dynasty, it's an atmospheric place. Located on the eastern shores of the picturesque Lake Pichola, the palace floats majestically above the sparkling waters.
Accommodation
The suites and rooms decorated with original paintings and period furniture from the toshakhanas or royal storerooms, cocoon you in velvety luxury as you soak in the ever-changing hues of the lake from large arched windows.
Dining
The Fateh Prakash has two fabulous restaurants. The Sunset Terrace is consistently rated as one of India's top restaurants, and offers a varied menu, which you can enjoy whilst admiring the magnificent scenery in the open-air restaurant. The Surya Darshan Bar, on the other hand, serves traditional English afternoon tea or evening drinks, which you can enjoy whilst watching the sun, set over the hills around Lake Pichola.
Facilities
Alongside its resplendent interior, the hotel also caters for your health and beauty needs with its Panghat Spa. There's also The Durbar Hall Sabhagaar and Crystal Gallery, resplendent with rare paintings and 'objets d'art', that connect you to a rich and authentic heritage.
