Location
The Emerald City, as its known, is crammed with cultural institutions and fringed by evergreen forests where hiking trails offer a welcome change from urban haunts. Perhaps take a water taxi to West Seattle for a stroll along the beach or summit the Space Needle for city views. There’s also Seattle’s fantastic museum culture, featuring the renowned Art Museum, just three minutes away from the hotel’s central location. There’s also a two-mile route that runs north from the hotel along the city’s coastline catering for joggers and afternoon strolls alike. It’s also well connected for those travelling further afield, being just 20 to 30 minutes from the city’s international airport.
Accommodation
The hotel’s 147 spacious guest rooms and 13 luxury suites occupy the first 10 floors of a 21-storey downtown tower. Interiors are bright and airy with soft, natural hues used throughout. Light ash wood accents display intricate details such as Asian-inspired millwork. While all rooms feature 42” plasma TVs and marble bathrooms complete with soaking tubs, you’ll have to choose between bay or city views with the former offering excellent vistas of Elliott Bay and Puget Sound.
Dining
Despite the Four Seasons brand being recognised the world over, it has partnered with Ethan Stowell Restaurants to offer a local, authentic dining experience. To glowing reviews, head chef Joe Ritchie shares his passion for sophisticated Pacific Northwest cuisine prepared using only the finest regional ingredients and served to a backdrop of bay views. It pays homage to the city’s pioneer days with gourmet burgers rubbing shoulders with delicately dressed white fish, local oysters and sockeye salmon. Breakfasts run the full range between yogurt parfaits and stacked buttermilk pancakes.
Facilities
To help you get around, the hotel puts on a complimentary car service on a first-come, first-served basis for locations in the immediate area, ideal for exploring Seattle’s aforementioned museums. Guests are also treated to a spectacular outdoor infinity pool deck, looking out over the city while there’s also a 24-hour fitness centre for gym addicts. For further exertion, the hotel has preferred access to tee times at local golf clubs and courts at the excellent Amy Yee Tennis Centre while, back at base, there’s a superb spa to soothe any aches and pains incurred.
