This spectacular new hotel lies in the shadow of the the awe-inspiring landscapes of northern Patagonia on the shores of dazzling Lake Ranco. Perched in the sprawling meadows of Futangue Park, rooms are found at the end of delightful stone and wood pathways, continued inside with natural wood furnishings in a charming barn style. Colourful Mapuche-style fabrics and fur-trimmed furnishings work wonderfully with plants, fur rugs, white wood walls and timber beams that all combine to give a rustic, Scandi-luxe feel.
Just steps from the hotel guests will find the stunning spa that continues the chalet-style theme, with myriad spa treatments on offer that use local berries and oils taken from the virgin forest. There's also two indoor and outdoor heated pools, a sauna, massage rooms and a gym, then, come evening, dining is all local, and truly impresses with everything from homemade ice cream to craft liquors, taken in the pared-back sprawling ceilings of the wood-clad dining room, alongside, naturally, a stunning selection of Chilean wines.
It’s outside that steals the show here, though, with three excursion categories meaning a choice of adventures to perfectly suit: Relaxed Adventures, Active Experiences and Fly Fishing. Perhaps hike or bike the near-70 miles of trails among the mountains and virgin forests studded with turquoise waterfalls and lakes, or discover lava fields and hot springs on kayaking trips. Then there's lakeside Patagonian barbecues, horse riding through the meadows, trips to the Green Lake and mysterious sunken forest, rappelling or rafting down waterfalls and, of course, fly fishing on the lake.
