Location
One&Only Le St Géran has long been established as one of the most exclusive resorts on Mauritius, ideally situated on the silver sands of its own peninsula with sugar-cane mountains as its neighbours. Jutting out from the east coast of the island, its fabulous coral reefs enjoy an enviable position between a sheltered lagoon and the warmth of the Indian Ocean. As such, its clear waters are ideal for a full range of water sports, from diving and snorkelling to kitesurfing and water-skiing.
Accommodation
Having undergone a complete, multi-million-dollar refurbishment, the resort is utterly immaculate. Each of its accommodation options is dressed in contemporary-colonial elegance, with all featuring pretty views over the lagoon, ocean or sandy beach from generously sized private outdoor spaces. In turn, the suites are a particular highlight, with personalised butler service and powdery soft sand that begins at the edge of private sun decks. There’s even the finest ocean villa in Mauritius – Villa One. it comes complete with a private infinity pool along with a dedicated butler, chef and valet.
Dining
The resort offers a full range of world-class cuisine, including a brand-new vegan dining concept from chef Matthew Kenney. Indulge with freshly grilled seafood on the Palm Grove beach, fuse Spanish with pan-Asian exoticism by the lagoon under the thatched roof of Tapasake, or watch as Japanese delicacies are prepared right in front of you at Sushi Bar and the interactive stations of Teppanyaki. There’s even an artisanal bakery. Alternatively, for a special occasion, look into the private dining, ranging from in-suite intimacy to exclusive dinners on the beach and boat.
Facilities
In between spending time on the sand or in the sea, it’s easy for days to get away from you. Of course, this being One&Only, the spa is a special highlight. Here, along with the saunas, steam rooms and lap pools, indigenous techniques are showcased alongside modern best practice with a full spread of treatments. However on top of the yoga and Pilates classes, there’s plenty of opportunity to stay active. After scuba diving, snorkelling, paddleboarding, jet skiing or fishing, return to dry land with everything from bike rides and tennis courts to kickboxing and even paintball archery. Lastly, there’s a wide range of kids’ activities to keep the little ones happy.
