Location
Perched on the iconic lava cliffs of the famous Kona coastline, this oceanfront resort is located close to the historic Keauhou Bay, the birthplace of King Kamehameha III and offers unrivalled access to the area’s surrounding history and nature.
Accommodation
Expect airy, contemporary rooms with floor-to-ceiling glass doors, soft, earthy tones with features including flat screen televisions, bathroom and dining amenities and Sheraton Signature Sleep Experience bedding. You’ll have to choose between lush mountain and calming ocean rooms, but either are welcoming views from private lanais.

At Kona Resort, Ainakai serves up tropical buffets including fruits, island juices and made to order breakfasts with fresh local Kona coffee. For dinner, head to the Rays on the Bay restaurant, famous as it is the only restaurant in the world to offer views of the giant mantra bay in is natural habitat. Accompanied by live music, perhaps try the wild Hawaiian Ahi, served with black rice, garlic greens and lemongrass-curry vinaigrette and, finish off with crispy banana bread with coconut ice cream and flamed spiced rum caramel.
Facilities
The resort’s location makes it a prime spot to explore Hawaii’s Big Island, including the shopping and entertainment centres, the historic Kailua Village, or to snorkel the reef, visit national parks and hike dormant volcanoes.
