City
Location
The state gets its name from the Choctaw word for ‘Red People’ and, with 39 tribes calling it home, it plays a significant part in documenting Native American history and tradition through museums and cultural displays. More locally, the hotel’s downtown location gives it great access to the city’s attractions including the Oklahoma City Museum of Art and the Myriad Gardens, a 7-storey botanical garden cum urban park. There’s also the ‘Adventure District’, home to the city zoo, National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum, Science Museum and National Softball Hall of Fame and Stadium.
Accommodation
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Colcord is a member of the Historic Hotels of America. However, that’s not to say that it’s stuck in the past as Euro-top mattresses, luxurious linens, Bluetooth speaker docking stations, designer granite vanities and 47” flat-screen TVs ensure that guests enjoy all the creature comforts that they’ve come to expect on their travels. All rooms feature downtown views while suites come with large soaking tubs, double-size glass showers and separate living areas.
Dining
FLINT serves gourmet takes on American classics with every dish and drink made with the freshest, locally sourced ingredients. You can expect mains such as a mouth-watering bison pot roast or brown sugar-seared Colorado lamb chop served on a bed of Israeli couscous. The hotel also has access to the excellent eateries at the next-door Devon Energy Center including the 49th floor fine dining experience at Vast, the healthy reimagination of fast food at Nebu and the light bites and artisanal coffee at Aravalli.
Facilities
Amenities include complimentary WiFi, digital access to The New York Times and freshly brewed tea and coffee delivered to your room each morning. There’s also a shuttle service that runs into downtown ‘OKC’ throughout the day and an on-site fitness centre. For craft cocktails and a warm atmosphere, head to the fire pits and sunset views of the Patio at FLINT, which also puts on a selection of fine snacks.
