Location
The lodge, perched on the taintless waters of Whitefish Lake in Montana’s Flathead Valley, is just minutes away from Whitefish itself and its Big Mountain ski resort. Half an hour’s drive from the natural spectacle of Glacier National Park, the Lodge can be easily reached via Whitefish’s Amtrak station or nearby Glacier Park International Airport.
Accommodation
Main lodge rooms are generous in size with lakefront options to make the most of the hotel’s enviable location. Guests can also choose a studio or loft suite with extra bathroom, full kitchen facilities and, in some case, private balconies from which to enjoy the mountain country sunsets. Connected by a sky bridge to the main Lodge, the newly created Viking Lodge sits within the Viking Creek Preserve and its plentiful wildlife, offering spacious modern rooms, a firelit lounge, a bar & grill, an indoor pool and a fitness centre. Lakefront condominiums and four-bedroom luxury cabins with state-of-the-art fittings, fireplaces, and private hot tubs, are also available.
Dining
With the only lakefront dining in Whitefish, the Boat Club Restaurant provides breakfast, lunch and dinner with a glorious view and a menu built around Montana-grown ingredients. In the warmer months, you can take your dining one step closer to nature and eat outdoors on the patio deck, or enjoy drinks and grilled snacks at the poolside tiki bar. Reserve a space at the Boat Club Dining Room, which specialises in fresh fish caught straight from the lake, or sip cocktails and local Montana brews in the Lounge. Live music features three times a week in the bar and there are daily après-ski specials to kick off your evening.
Facilities
The Lodge has its own marina and you can enjoy a lake tour or rent a range of boats – from cruisers and jetskis to kayaks and paddleboards – and make your own way around Whitefish Lake. All the hotel’s boats are new each year. The nearby Glacier National Park offers awe-inspiring natural beauty, 700 miles of hiking trail, white water rafting, horseback riding, and Red Bus tours of one of the continent’s finest landscapes. Whitefish Mountain ski resort is on the doorstep, with its 3000 acres of winter piste and scenic summer activities. The Flathead Valley is also a Golf Digest Top 50 destination, with nine championship courses in the locality. Alternative forms of relaxation can be found at the Lodge Spa, with its extensive range of treatments, yoga classes, and lakefront Relaxation Lounge.
