Location
Situated in Miami’s most fashionable neighbourhood, South Beach, the hotel features its own private stretch of beach, complete with full waiter service. Known to some as the ‘Capital of Glamour’, the nightlife, coffee shops and Art Deco Architecture of Miami’s Ocean Drive is just down from the hotel while the outdoor mall that is Lincoln Road is just over ten minutes’ walk away. Slightly further afield, there’s Cuban culture in Little Havana, the bohemia of Coconut Grove and the arts of Wynwood and the Design District. More inland, there are the 1920s Mediterranean-revival mansions of Coral Gables.
Accommodation
Art Deco suites mix the classic deep browns of the design movement’s wooden furnishings with Asian-inspired artwork and authentic artefacts. The effect is considered and is complemented by views over the architectural merits of the neighbourhood or the Setai’s courtyard and its serene pond. All rooms features rainfall showers and absolute black granite baths. For something more exclusive, the Ocean Suites occupy the adjacent glass buildings and come with glittering views of the Atlantic and a complimentary spa session.
Dining
The hotel’s newest restaurant, Jaya, incorporates traditional culinary techniques such as wok stations and tandoor ovens to deliver a pan-Asian menu. Highlights include pork bun bao, thali platters and kimchi fried rice. This being Miami, it’s of course served with the very best in international wines. The hotel’s second restaurant, the Setair Grill, blends Asian-Pacific notes with the Latin American flavours Florida is famed for while the Bar & Courtyard restaurant offers a lighter tasting menu and the Pool Bar & Grill serves Mediterranean and American inspired dishes.
Facilities
While there’s much to see in Miami, you’d be excused for wanting to spend much of your stay lounging on the hotel’s private beach. Hire a jet ski, tuck into a light bite from the beach kitchen or simply curl up on a sun lounger. Back at the hotel, there are three heated infinity pools including a family pool and a lap pool, although you may wish to get your daily dose of exercise in the fitness centre. There’s also a spa that combines Japanese innovation with French products to deliver an outstanding experience.
