Location
South America’s largest lake is steeped in Incan legend. As the birthplace of Viracocha – the Incas’ sun god creator – it’s only apt that its shimmering waters, a mirror of its bright blue skies, are the majestic front to ruined cathedrals and picturesque hills. It’s a setting nothing short of deific. And, Titilaka enjoys an exclusive location on its south-eastern shores, only sharing its private peninsula with the indigenous Aymara community. It combines off the beaten path authenticity with the otherwordly vistas that make Lake Titicaca so enchanting.
Accommodation
Each of the hotel’s 18 rooms are lake facing and are distributed across three floors. All are generously proportioned and immaculately presented in clean, contemporary lines that lead the eye from the king-size bed, past the seating area and out to that vast waterscape. The Premium Corner Room offers both sunrise and sunset panoramas along with the standard underfloor heated en suites, while blackout curtains and iPod docks are available in all room types.
Dining
Staying all-inclusive you’ll be treated to full breakfasts, lunches accompanied by appetisers and indulgent dinners. And, with 270° views of the lake, its modern dining room is an atmospheric setting for contemporary Peruvian dishes that exclusively make use of fresh, local ingredients sourced from nearby markets. Our favourite was the pecan and apple salad. In between, cocktail hours, a complimentary bar service and in-room mini bars make the most of the hotel’s well-stocked wine cellar.
Facilities
Its four acres of grounds feature two private beaches, complemented by wrap-around terraces, overwater decks and boardwalks. However, its included experiences take centre stage. Perhaps explore the lake’s postcard-perfect islands or learn about the region’s creation myth before visiting some of its local communities. There’s also everything from temple visits, marketplace tours and bird watching excursions to trekking, bike rides and rafting to keep you occupied. Back at base you’ll also find game rooms, lounges and complimentary WiFi.
