Natural world
Flying south from Punta Arenas to Puerto Williams you’ll be greeted with aerial views of the Magellan Strait and the soaring peaks of the Darwin Mountain Range, a region of creaking glaciers, labyrinthine channels and colourful lakes. Check into the comfortable Lakutaia Lodge for a three-night stay before embarking on the first of your excursions – a flight over Cape Horn, that lonely 400 metre-high crag at the very southern tip of South America. Over the following days your adventures continue apace as you follow in the footsteps of Charles Darwin – coming face to face with seals, dolphins and penguins – and choose between guided hikes and horse back rides along ancient forest trails and the untamed shores of the spectacular Beagle Channel.
