Introduction
Famous for its annual oyster festival, Knysna has twice been voted South Africa's favourite small town. The shipwreck-prone Eastern and Western Heads are both popular sights, while along the spectacular coastline – all glittering sands and jutting crags – southern right whales, humpbacks and dolphins are all regular visitors. Elsewhere, Knysna Elephant Park is a popular place to interact with these relocated giants, and the excellent Featherbed Nature Reserve is rich with local flora and fauna. Meanwhile, back in the town itself, a pretty harbour sets the perfect scene for sunset drinks and delicious seafood dinners.
