Introduction
Ol Pejeta, almost a million acres of dreamy African landscape, sits between the foothills of the Aberdares and the mighty outline of Mount Kenya. A non-profit wildlife conservancy, the reserve is the largest black rhino sanctuary in East Africa.
Ol Pejeta also holds some of the highest predator densities in Kenya, including lions, cheetahs, leopard and hyenas. The reserve is a model of conservancy, preserving endangered animals while accommodating local grazing stock of pure breed Boran cattle and working closely with local communities.
A tailor-made holiday here should include a visit to the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary, the only place in Kenya where the endangered animal can be seen. There are numerous accommodation options within the reserve, including Sweetwaters Tented Camp, an outstanding example of safari luxury.
