Introduction
The traditional houses of the Hahoe Folk Village nestle alongside a gently flowing river (Hahoe means ‘spinning river') amid pretty countryside close to the town of Andong in Gyeongsang province.
Unlike some of the country's folk villages, this is a genuinely old settlement with architecture from the Joseon era and thatched roofs.
Andong is also known for a celebrated cultural treasure, the Hahoe Byeongsan Mask: the oldest mask in Korea, it is used in springtime Hahoe Mask Dance festivities.
