Introduction
Vast jungles and sprawling tea plantations cover the hills surrounding Munnar in the Western Ghats region. Kerala's principal tea growing region in the Idukki high ranges is Chai central, where tea plantations from the 19th century thrive, hemmed in by South India's highest peak – Ana Mudi, at a height of 2695m. British Raj bungalows cling to hillsides, while the famous High Range Club with its manicured lawns and golf course is a perennial favourite. Head to the stunning Eravikulam National Park for the pretty Lakkam waterfalls, biking and hiking trails and sightings of the endangered mountain goat.
