Introduction
Sharm el Sheikh is one of the best-known holiday resorts on Egypt's Red Sea coast. Known by many simply as ‘Sharm', it encompasses the town of Sharm el Sheikh and the neighbouring resort of Na'ama Bay, with its peaceful Corniche, al fresco restaurants and wide choice of international-standard hotels.
There are more than 60 kilometres of reef along the Sharm coast, which has made it world renown for its superb diving and snorkelling. Sections of the reef can often be accessed directly from the private beaches of luxury hotels. Another option is to take a boat trip out to nearby Ras Mohammed National Park. Egypt's first national park protects some of the world's most captivating coral and marine life and is a major highlight of a Sharm el Sheikh holiday.
