Introduction
On flights over Denali National Park look down at the colourful flora and fauna that decorate the landscape in autumn - one of he best reasons for visiting this region is to discover the wildlife here. You can also visit the tallest mountain in North America - Mount McKinley. If you don't fancy the climb, then view Mount McKinley from Wonder Lake and admire its reflection in the clear waters.
Access to the driveway is limited for visitors but there are plenty of bus or narrated tours on offer. Hop on for a ride down the 91-mile stretch of Park Road. It passes Savage River Area, campsites as well as Wonder Lake and you will have excellent opportunities to spot animals along the way such as grizzly bears, moose or caribou.
Explore Stampede Road, made famous by adventurer Christopher McCandless, on a Backcountry Safari. And enjoy wildlife sightings and discover Alaska's gold rush history on a Kantishna Wilderness Trail.
You'll uncover dinosaur fossils while visiting The Lower Cantwell Formation. And come across braided rivers while hiking across the differing landscapes that distinguish the north and south of the park. Try kayaking along glacial lakes, rafting, dog sledding or mountaineering throughout the park. And be in awe of the landscape at night when the ribbons of colour from The Northern Lights pass overhead in winter.
