Introduction
The Mile High City of Denver, the capital of Colorado, is a metropolis of Old West history and modern delights. 300 days of sunshine, a walkable downtown, thriving craft beer and dining scenes and a number of well-known museums – among them the History Colorado Center and Denver Art Museum – characterise this growing city.
Although Denver is a young city with many thriving neighbourhoods and a flourishing arts scene, its historic and preservation districts keep it in touch with its frontier town past. It makes for the perfect start to exploring the rest of Colorado, from exploring the walkable city centre to sampling craft brews on the Denver Beer Trail or hiking easy trails in Red Rocks Park & Amphitheatre. The latter is an unmissable sight where bands play regularly against an awe-inspiring backdrop of arid red rock and desert, as is a baseball game at Coors Field in LoDo (Lower Downtown).
