When to visit Argentina
Introduction
Due to its vast size, there are huge differences in climatic conditions across the country, which are worth taking into account when planning a trip.
Buenos Aires is best in spring (September to early-November) or autumn (March to May) when temperatures are mild. Summer in the capital can be stifling, with temperatures often hitting the high 30s.
The shoulder seasons are also a good time to explore the northern and central provinces – autumnal leaves make Mendoza and the Lake District spectacular. Iguazú Falls benefits from the significant rainfall between during December, January and February, creating a spectacular display. However, outside of this time, you may find the hiking trails to be more accessible, so consider first what you plan on doing when visiting.
Patagonia enjoys a long season of suitability, as visitors can enjoy its surrounds particularly from October to March. Between December and February, the weather is at its most mild. And, if it's skiing you're after, slopes open up in Bariloche between June and September.
