La Guajira Peninsula
The Guajira Peninsula is home to the Wayuu people, one of Colombia's best-preserved indigenous cultures. The Wayuu live in an otherworldly landscape that culminates in the northernmost point of South America, Punta Gallinas.
Tayrona National Park
Tayrona National Park is one of the most popular attractions on Colombia's Caribbean coast. Pelicans fly overhead and the sounds of the jungle mix with those of the pounding surf. Its often-deserted sandy bays are divine - tropical settings don't get much better than this.
Santa Marta
Santa Marta is Colombia's oldest city, situated at the mouth of the Rio Manzanares and created by the Spanish conquistadors in 1525. It was later overshadowed by Cartagena, so doesn't have the same colonial heritage, but is a pleasant and historically important place to visit nevertheless.
