Silver Origin is a ship made specifically with the Galápagos Islands in mind. Billed as ‘the most elegant ship’ to ever sail Ecuador’s remote Pacific archipelago, guests can expect all the luxuries of a Silversea cruise coupled with a striking new design. Pillar 1: Sustainability
With routes that take in one of the world’s most environmentally sensitive regions, Silver Origin has rightly put sustainability centre stage. A state-of-the-art positioning system and advanced propulsion system will ensure the seabed is protected at all times, while on board a combination of water purification in all suites alongside the provision of reusable drinks bottles will mean a plastic-free environment.
Pillar 2: Destination on board
With floor-to-ceiling windows throughout the ship, coupled with dedicated observation lounges and an Observation and Stargazing Platform, guests will be treated to spectacular views of the national park and its inhabitants, whether day or night. Even the showers have private ocean views. On top of that, local guides will be onboard throughout, providing expert insight into the region’s unique wildlife and geology.
Pillar 3: Expedition experience
Alongside the ship’s guides, guests will prepare for shore expeditions at the innovative ‘knowledge lounge’ known as Basecamp. Featuring a wealth of materials and educational tools, it will be the ideal place to learn even more about each island and its inhabitants. And, it’s been designed to open directly out onto the Marina, providing easy access to the ship’s fleet of eight Zodiacs® - the highest number per guest of any ship in the Galápagos.
Pillar 4: Authentic local culture
As with all Silversea cruises, guests can expect to be fully immersed in the region’s culture, in this case with an emphasis on local cuisine. As such, guests can expect all manner of culinary experiences, from the authentic Ecuadorian dishes which pepper the two restaurants’ eclectic menus to live cookery sessions and seminars, which offer the chance to recreate the unique flavours on offer throughout the region. And, it will all be paired with the finest local and international wines.
