Japan Airlines launches second daily service between London and Tokyo

12 October 2017 by David Ward

To fulfil an ever-increasing demand for travel to Japan from the UK, Japan Airlines (JAL) has announced a second daily flight between the two country’s capitals, with the new service set hit the skies from 29 October 2017.

The introduction of this new service will provide not only more seats, but also more travel options for clients heading to Japan from Europe. The early arrival times into both Haneda and Heathrow mean that travellers can make the most of the day, either for sightseeing, or to connect to onward flights; JAL’s extensive domestic network offers easy access to 36 cities across Japan. Meanwhile, JAL will also continue to offer four-daily non-stop flights between London and Tokyo in partnership with British Airways as part of the One World alliance.

On these new services, clients will have the chance to showcase the latest in state-of-the-art air travel aboard the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners. Each of the three cabins – Economy, Premium Economy and Business Class – is fitted with Japan Airlines’ award-winning seats: fully flat beds with 23-inch touchscreen TVs and guaranteed aisle access in Business; shell seats with the most generous leg room in their class in Premium Economy; and their Skytrax 2017 award winner in Economy. Clients will also find food at the very heart of their JAL experience, with renowned chef Daisuke Hayashi having designed authentic Japanese dishes for a standout Business Class menu while in Premium, the rising stars of Japanese cookery have collaborated on meals that encompass the flavours of both Asia and Europe.

Exclusively on the late-night flight out of Haneda (JL041), all clients will have exclusive access to the luxurious JAL Sakura Lounge from 23:30 on the evening of departure. Even those travelling in Economy Class will have their own area on the lounge's fifth floor, where hot and cold food, beer, wine and soft drinks will be available free of charge. Business and Premium Economy passengers will be able to use both the fourth and fifth floors as usual, including the shower and massage chair facilities. Indeed, it’s worth noting that, as well as the unusual benefit of full business lounge access, Premium Economy passengers will also enjoy dedicated check in and priority baggage on all flights.

And, for a limited time only, those on the late-night departure will also have complimentary access to the natural hot spring spa facilities at Hot Spring Heiwajima, just 20 minutes from the airport. What’s more, the transfer back is free too, so clients need only pay for a one-way bus ticket to enjoy all the relaxing pre-flight benefits of a traditional Japanese onsen bath.
