South Australia boasts a tantalising combination of spectacular landscapes, world-renowned winelands, diverse wildlife and urban riches. Trace a route between the leafy Adelaide Hills and the vineyard-carpeted valleys of the Barossa Valley, sampling some of the country’s finest wines as you go. Drive north for a taste of life in the Outback and the Flinders Ranges before looping back to Adelaide for a couple of nights in South Australia’s cosmopolitan capital, home to a thriving cultural and culinary scene. Cap off your adventure by taking a ferry to the wildlife hotspot of Kangaroo Island, where you’ll stay in a boutique wilderness lodge with magnificent ocean views, a secluded beach and expert-led tours.

Day 1
Depart UK

Start your holiday in style with included airport lounge access before your flight to Adelaide, arriving on day two.

Days 2-3
Adelaide Hills

On arrival in South Australia’s capital, collect your hire car and make your way to your five-star historic hotel in the Adelaide Hills – a scenic region renowned for its rolling hills, cute villages and boutique vineyards. Alternatively, you might decide to upgrade to the adjacent Sequoia Lodge, a truly luxurious adults-only retreat where you can enjoy spectacular suites and a complimentary on-site experiences. Whichever you choose, this is the perfect spot to start your South Australia experience in comfort and style, with exquisite food and wine, top class amenities and swathes of natural beauty right on your doorstep.

Days 4-5
Barossa Valley

Today, continue your journey deeper into the winelands, setting your sights on the Barossa Valley. Here, you’ll check into the Barossa Shiraz Estate, which hosts a collection of homely cottages on the outskirts of Lyndoch, one of South Australia’s oldest towns. You also have the option of staying at The Louise, a luxury lodge among vineyards, a little further north. Both are ideal options for immersing yourself in the area’s esteemed wine heritage, culinary delights and abundant hiking and cycling routes.

Days 6-8
Outback at Rawnsley Park Station

It’s time to leave the mellow, gently undulating hills of the Barossa Valley behind as you drive on to the dusty plains of the Outback before arriving at Rawnsley Park Station in the Flinders Ranges. You’ll be staying close to some of South Australia’s most majestic landscapes – think jagged mountains, ancient gorges and towering cliffs, home to a rich variety of wildlife. These can be explored through a whole host of optional activities, from walking tours and mountain biking to 4WD adventures and helicopter flights. There’s also plenty of scope to unwind and enjoy authentic Australian cuisine amid the awe-inspiring nature of the Outback.

Days 9-10

Head back down south to Adelaide, where you’ll drop off your hire car before checking into your city centre hotel. This is your opportunity to discover the diverse delights of South Australia’s cosmopolitan capital, from art galleries and food markets to elegant heritage buildings and abundant parklands. Whether you plan on sightseeing or simply taking it easy and leaning into the laid-back ambience, Adelaide is a city brimming with charm. It’s a foodie haven, too, so you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to fabulous venues for wining and dining.

Days 11-13
Kangaroo Island

Today, you’ll be picked up for a tour from Adelaide to Cape Jervis, where you’ll board a ferry to Penneshaw on Kangaroo Island. En route you'll explore some hidden gems of the Fleurieu Peninsula, including the Ongaparinga River National Park and a wine tasting at one of McLaren Vale's wineries. On arrival, check into your eco-friendly boutique wilderness lodge, set within a 250-acre seafront estate with its own secluded beach in a cove with white sand, granite rocks and crystal clear water. Across a day and a half of touring with expert guides, you’ll experience the island’s natural splendour while keeping an eye out for wildlife, including kangaroos, wallabies, koalas and dolphins, as well as a vast array of bird species. All of this is complemented by stylish accommodation and delicious, locally-inspired cuisine for a truly authentic and immersive stay.
