Location
Standing at the base of the park's famous granite towers, this former estancia, or ranch, could hardly hold a more central position. The hotel lends itself perfectly to exploring Patagonia by foot and on horseback, right at the starting point for trekking among the breath-taking pinnacles of rock that give the park its name. The scenic Laguna Amarga – gateway to the Torres del Paine National Park – is just a few miles away. Surrounded by unspoilt wilderness, every room boasts spectacular views of the valley and mountains.
Accommodation
The hotel has grown considerably in size since founder Antonio Kusanovic and his wife Amor Eliana built just nine rooms and a small restaurant on their 8,000-acre ranch in the 1990s. Now offering almost 80 rooms and two suites, it's well suited to groups and large families. The Canelo and Cypress rooms all come with an ensuite bathroom, picture windows, and furniture made by artisans from Patagonia. The suites are particularly special – relax in a private jacuzzi with views of the Paine Massif and enjoy a drink from your own in-room bar.
Dining
Hotel Estancia Las Torres maintains the world’s southernmost organic garden, producing close to ten tonnes of produce, including 26 varieties of fruit and vegetables, for the hotel's kitchen and bar. Dine at the Coirón Restaurant or Quincho, which serves traditional Patagonian barbecue, featuring organic beef and lamb from the owner's family ranches. In the Pioneer Bar, the best mixologist in Chile is on hand to serve you delicious organic cocktails with copper straws – be sure to sample a Calafate Sour, made from the fruit of the endemic Calafate bush. There's even a microbrewery onsite, producing craft beer unique to the hotel.
Facilities
The Estancia Cerro Paine can house 220 horses, continuing a ranching tradition that began over 100 years ago. Guests of the hotel can join a gaucho guide on horseback excursions across the pampas or among the mountains of the national park. All-inclusive packages include a myriad other activities and excursions such as hiking, cycling and rock climbing. And, after days spent adventuring outdoors, retreat to the boutique Spa Las Torres, which offers treatments inspired by the nature of Patagonia. Relax with a hydromassage, mud therapy, reflexology and more.
