Location
Palermo Soho is one of Buenos Aires’ most fashionable districts – a perfect blend of bohemia and modernity. Here the scene can switch from celebrities hanging out at the fabulous Casa Cruz restaurant, to arts students sipping coffees in hip cafes on handed-down chesterfields and battered leather sofas. It’s an upmarket enclave in the centre of the city and the perfect place to taste modern Latin living.
Accommodation
Each of the 11 rooms pays homage to an Argentine hero. Some are world renowned, like Eva Peron and Che Guevara, while others are lesser-known legends, such as the painter Benito Quinquela Martin, the tango singer Carlos Gardel, and the millionaire patron of the arts, Victoria Ocampo. One room is even themed on a six-year-old girl from a comic strip, whose irreverence and intelligence caught the nation’s imagination in the Sixties. Whichever you choose, you’ll find the themed décor more suggestive than smothering, and balanced beautifully with the flatscreen TVs, luxurious linens, Terra bath products and other mod-cons that ensure a comfortable stay is never in doubt.
Dining
With its polished wood floors, leather sofas and towering bookcases, the hotel feels like an aristocratic townhouse. And like a real townhouse, it’s lacking a restaurant or a bar of its own. It’s of little importance, however, as you’re right in the heart of Palermo Soho, where irresistible eateries are perched on every corner. There is a breakfast lounge by the library for the mornings (they generously serve until 11am), every room has a well-stocked mini bar, and a snack menu of pizzas, pies and sandwiches is available around the clock.
Facilities
It’s easy to let the hours slip by with a good book pulled from the hotel library’s well-stocked shelves, enjoyed by the fireplace with a glass of Malbec or out on the peaceful courtyard patio. You’ll also find complimentary WiFi throughout the hotel, bikes to rent nearby, spa treatments on request and a priceless concierge team that will share with you the secrets of this buzzing little barrio.
