Location
Located in the leafy French Quarter, between the sprawling verdure of the Royal Gardens and the hubbub of the Old Market, this hotel is perfectly placed for exploring Siem Reap's myriad attractions. At night, you'll be within walking distance of many of the city's best bars and restaurants while in the morning, Angkor's fabled temples are just a 15-minute tuk tuk ride away.
Accommodation
Perfectly suited to couples, with perks such as fully-stocked minibars, Nespresso coffee machines and complimentary WiFi, accommodation here is unapologetically modern. Superior rooms feature contemporary artwork inspired by Ankor Wat, Deluxe Rooms look out over the leafy garden or tranquil pool, and Deluxe Living Rooms – the most spacious of all – are perfect for families with a separate lounge, iPod dock and dvd player as handcrafted furnishings and accessories add a touch of the unique.
Dining
The hotel offers some wonderful dining options, with everything from succulent steaks to menus inspired by the Khmer street food. At the exceptional Kroya, a tasting menu highlighting the best in the region's cuisine might include such delights as crispy fermented pork or sun-dried fish compressed with watermelon and mango. Meanwhile, the Steak House at Pub Street serves some of the city's finest cuts, with the 1.2 kg rib eye roast a particular highlights; simply served with chips and salad, it's best washed down with a full bodied red from the restaurant's excellent wine list. There are also two bars – one by the pool – where happy-hour cocktails and ice-cold beers are accompanied tasty tapas selections and other light-food snacks. Guests are also invited to join one of the hotel's cooking classes to learn about the culinary secrets of Cambodian cuisine.
Facilities
With treatments based on traditional Khmer healing rituals, the hotel's spa is a relaxing oasis in the heart of a busy city; it's especially appealing after long days exploring the nearby temples, with the Khmer Coffee Scrub an instant favourite on a lengthy menu. The hotel is also known for its wonderfully philanthropic philosophy, which can be explored on exclusive community-based excursions and personalised tours of the hotel's own Shinta Mani Development centre.
