Location
The Chau Doc hotel is located in the Mekong Delta, close to the Cambodian border. Built in the colonial style with low-rise French architectural design, the four star hotel blends perfectly with its natural surroundings. Because of its location on the banks of the Bassac River, it's an ideal base from which to explore the fascinating Chau Doc region. As its so close to Cambodia, it's the ideal place to use as a base to continue your journey to Cambodia via the hotel's speedboat service.
Accommodation
There are 92 rooms at the hotel, including four suites, most with spectacular views of the river. Each room combines Vietnamese elegance with colonial old-world charm. Victoria Superior Rooms are 48 sq m, and have an area with a sofa and writing desk. Victoria Deluxe Rooms have 32 m sq of space, and a river view balcony. Suites, on the other hand, have king-sized beds, a comfortable sitting area, a writing desk and a large balcony with a complimentary refilled minibar. We strongly recommend that you book a River view room, to enjoy the spectacular views and minimise any noise that can occasionally be heard from the city view rooms.
Dining
The Bassac Restaurant, which boasts spectacular river views, specialises in Vietnamese and European cuisine, as well as serving barbecues on the terrace of the river bank. Also on offer at the hotel is the Tan Chau Salon Bar, where you can enjoy fresh drinks and cocktails with Western and Asian snacks.
Facilities
If you're tired from a day of sightseeing, visit the hotel's spa. The spa offers a range of relaxing and rejuvenating treatments from massage to reflexology. Other wellbeing related facilities at the hotel include an open air swimming pool, a fitness centre and table tennis. A unique way of travelling along the Mekong River is to try the hotel's speedboat service that can take you into Cambodia. The service takes four hours, and visas are organised on arrival.
