Introduction
Due in no small part to its sheer scale, North America lends itself perfectly to great railway travel. Let the train take the strain as you trundle through the vast landscapes of Canada or the United States, watching the panoramas unfold.
There are several world-class railway journeys in Canada. The Rocky Mountaineer Railway is perhaps the best known; travelling between Jasper and Vancouver via Banff and Calgary, it explores the vast grasslands and the soaring Rocky Mountains, with superb views guaranteed from your seat. There's also a service operating from Whistler to Jasper that is extremely picturesque.
To see more of British Columbia, take the Skeena train from Prince Rupert on the Pacific Coast to Jasper amidst the mountains and see some of the most impressive peaks close up.
