Introduction
Elk, ibex and bears are among the native wildlife often seen at the deep, crystal-clear Lake Khovsgol near the Russian border, which is known as Mongolia's ‘dark blue pearl'.
White gers, grazing horses and yaks can also be seen in the surrounding Khovsgol Nuul National Park, where taiga landscapes of spruce trees, streams and craggy peaks offer excellent opportunities for fishing and hiking.
