Introduction
Head just north of Brisbane and you’ll find the Sunshine Coast. From the surf beaches and esplanades of Caloundra, Alexandra Headland and Mooloolaba to the cosmopolitan café culture of Noosa, this region of cragged cliffs, verdant hills and wide, golden beaches is arguably the most beautiful in Southern Queensland.
Head out on national-park walks, take to the sea on kayaks and surfboards, or simply relax under in the sunshine, sampling fresh-from-the-boat seafood in an array of delightful restaurants that seem to populate almost every town and village. Noosa is perhaps the best example of this, a town of designer boutiques, quirky eateries and direct access to the Noosa Biosphere Reserve – an area recognised by UNESCO for its biodiversity.
