Location
The upmarket neighbourhood of Recoleta, with its leafy parks and tree-lined boulevards, provides the setting for this luxury hotel. Opened in 1932 and exuding the splendour of the Belle Époque, it's located just minutes from many of Buenos Aires' highlights.
Accommodation
Luxuriously decorated in Empire and Louis XV style, the hotel's interiors are resplendent with crystal chandeliers and gilded wood panel walls, a style that continues from the public areas into the guest rooms and suites. Expect rich drape curtains, plump pillows, Egyptian cotton linen and Hermes toiletries coupled with modern technology including LCD televisions. Suites feature a separate living space and, in some cases, butler service.
Dining
The hotel has two dining rooms, La Bourgogne and L’Orangerie; the former offers some of the best French food in the city while the latter serves breakfast, sumptuous buffet lunches and delicious afternoon teas. There’s also the elegant Lobby Bar, a picture in French style wood paneling, which has been serving classic cocktails to the great and good of Buenos Aires since 1932, and the Champagne Bar, run by renowned Buenos Aires bartender Inés De Los Santos.
Facilities
Alvear Palace’s facilities are second to none with a spa, wellness area with vitality pool, a fully equipped fitness centre and a Kinesis programme. The hotel also features a heated swimming pool on the second floor.
