Location
Queenstown has a reputation for its lively atmosphere and adrenaline-fuelled activities. However, this intimate offering enjoys a quiet location, backed by the Ben Lomond Scenic Reserve. It’s even got views over the town and its lake and mountain setting. Despite this, Browns is just a three-minute walk to the central shops and restaurants via a private pathway. You’ll also be right next door to the spic Skyline Queenstown for massive cable car views over the entire area. Further afield there’s everything from fjord cruises and country walks to paragliding and seasonal skiing to keep you entertained.
Accommodation
Reminiscent of a traditional European pension, Browns is inspired by its alpine climate to foster a warm atmosphere. There’s soft-toned continental décor throughout its ten guest rooms, each of which feature their own French doors that open onto Juliet balconies for sweeping town and Remarkables views. King beds and soft furnishings provide the comfort along with generously sized en suites, complete with baths and showers. Fridges host complimentary chilled water, fresh milk and fruit juice while 32” smart TVs and DVD players round off the amenities.
Dining
A cooked or continental breakfast is included in your stay, served in the welcoming morning room or, in the warm summer months, al fresco on the patio. After choosing from the buffet, make your selection from the blackboard menu of cooked options. Daily specials move with the seasons but the eggs benedict a special favourite. Whatever you decide on, it’s all cooked to order. For lunch and dinner, there’s an excellent range of options in Queenstown with the city enjoying something of an international revival.
Facilities
Given its proximity to the region’s slopes, skiers will be pleased to note the heated drying room while all will benefit from the cosy lounge’s fireplace and the outdoor courtyard’s fireside. You can even play giant chess at the latter. Make use of it all with a book from the library or retire to your room with your DVD selection. Of course, with such a range of outdoor activities on offer, you’ll want to get out and explore, away from the free WiFi.
