Location
Located in the centre of Purnululu National Park, the lodge allows convenient access to the stunning domes of the Bungle Bungle Range. Something of an alien landscape, the range’s beehive-shaped towers have been formed over millions of years and are one of the must-see natural attractions of Western Australia. Other nearby sights include the dramatic clay valleys of Cathedral Gorge and breathtaking walks through creeks and chasms. The lodge is sited in the national park itself in an idyllic bush setting.
Accommodation
While still within striking distance of the camp’s facilities, luxury tented cabins are carefully placed so as to maintain privacy and facilitate the appreciation of the surrounding bushland’s quiet beauty. What’s more, there’s no better place to do this than from the comfort of your cabin’s armchairs on the front-facing deck – perfect for observing the local birdlife. Inside, king size beds and generously sized en suite bathrooms ensure that your stay is far removed from the discomfort of traditional camping.
Dining
Due to its remote location, the lodge’s restaurant uses locally sourced ingredients to create excellent modern Australian cuisine. Guests can dine under the stars thanks to the building’s retractable roof as the restaurant’s open windows and rustic, timber charm invite the sounds and sights of the bush in. An extensive breakfast menu and three-course dinner is included in the price. In the evening, expect dishes such as Moroccan chicken to be served as you reflect on your day’s activity. Fully licensed, there’s a range of beverages to complement your meal including a robust range of Australian wines.
Facilities
Dedicated hosts are on hand to provide a personal touch with unrivalled advice on the region’s sights, trails and wildlife. They’ll point you in the direction of Piccaninny Creek where you can walk along the winding gorge that runs through the Bungle Bungles and recommend you test out the natural amphitheatre of Cathedral Gorge or hike along the palm tree fringed Echidna Chasm – a spectacular natural crevice.
