Location
Set back from the coast, the lodge is located in the southwestern tip of Western Australia. More immediately, not only does its 40 private acres feature a productive vineyard, but also native forestland, landscaped gardens and a peaceful lake. Perfect for afternoon walks in the Australian sun. Only three kilometres from the Indian Ocean, Cape Lodge’s area of Margaret River has a balmy Mediterranean climate, which can be reached by a three-hour drive, or 45-minute flight, from Perth.
Accommodation
The 22 rooms and suites are spacious and exceptionally comfortable, and overlook the hotel grounds. Garden View Rooms feature expansive bay windows while their larger deluxe counterparts come with balconies and spa baths. Guests can also choose to stay in one of suites that look over the lake or there’s the three-bedroom Vineyard Residence whose open plan lounge, dining and entertaining areas are set on its own three acres.
Dining
The award-winning restaurant, headed by new Executive Chef Michael Elfwing, sits over the main lake and diners can eat alfresco on the over-water decking. The menu changes daily based on fresh local produce and is of such a high standard that the restaurant was placed in the Top Ten in the World for Food in Condé Nast Traveller’s Gold List. The wine list features a wide selection of premium Margaret River wines, as well as, back vintage wines carefully cellared in the temperature controlled wine cellar. If you book three or more nights at Cape Lodge through Wexas, you’ll enjoy a complimentary Harvest Dinner Platter for two and a bottle of Cape Lodge estate-grown wine upon arrival.
Facilities
Cape Lodge’s grounds also play host to a well-proportioned swimming pool and a spa that offers a full range of massages and facials. There is also a range of tours put on to explore the diversity of the Margaret River region. Extending 138 km, it’s home to stretches of spectacular coastline, pristine beaches, world-class surf, karri forests, limestone caves and coastal trails. You can even spot whales off its shores.
