Location
This sophisticated boutique hotel is situated over five floors of an original mansion in the neighbourhood of Cerre Alegre, a UNESCO-listed district in colourful Valparaíso. It’s a place rich in heritage, where charming cobblestone streets, akin to a living museum, retrace the city’s history since the early 19th century.
Accommodation
The hotel’s five opulent floors conceal a mere 20 rooms. Divided into five categories from Traditional to Deluxe, each one is immaculately furnished and decorated in a blend of modern and classic styles with amenities including flat screen TVs and air conditioning. Book a room with a balcony if you can for views across the Valparaíso’s storied streets and faded mansions.
Dining
Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the hotel’s restaurant, Montealegre, is among the best in the city. Here, ocean views are complemented perfectly by a menu of contemporary Chilean cuisine with an emphasis on freshly caught seafood. There’s also an extensive wine list with a number of excellent local varieties. Guests have the option to dine inside or on the terrace overlooking Valparaíso Bay and the Pacific beyond.
Facilities
There’s a relaxing spa for guests to enjoy along with an outdoor pool, sun loungers and lush gardens. Tear yourself away, however, and Valparaíso’s abundant cultural delights are all within easy reach.
